Olympic Flame

Lighting of the Olympic flame was one of the best known ancient Olympic rituals. It symbolises the featOlympic Flame of Prometheus who brought fire from heaven to earth for the benefit of mankind. The Olympic flame here stands for the light of a triumph and warmth of friendly communion.   Now-a-days, about a month before the Olympic Games the Olympic flame is lighted from the sun's rays with a magnifying glass at Olympia, the venue of the Games in ancient Greece. The Olympic Torch is lighted from this films. The custom was revived at the 1928 Olympics. Many countries featured this sacred lighting ceremony in varied artistic ways.
